Short Term Vocational Training (STVT)

What is S.T.V.T. programme?

Over the last decade, the number of students coming out from Madhyamik level as well as the number of passed out students from Higher secondary courses is steadily increasing every year. Dearth of sufficient avenues in job-linked vocational courses coupled with the limited scope of structured technical training drives a section of these confused adolescents to the higher education arena – mostly ending up with careers that seldom harness the potential accrued through such education. To steer these directionless youths towards specific vocation oriented career, the scheme was introduced in the state in 1998-1999 as Short Term Vocational Training (S.T.V.T.) programme.

Who are the target group of this S.T.V.T. programme?

Entry qualification of the trainees is pass in Madhyamik/equivalent examination. The selection will be made on merit basis of Madhyamik/equivalent examination. Age should not be more than 40 years on 1st January of the year of starting the training programme. Normal reservation policy is applicable.

What about course curriculum, examination and certification of training?

The course will be of 6 months duration. Academic session: January-June (Six months) and July-December (Six months) in a year. Curriculum and certificates of competency will be provided by West Bengal State Council of Technical Education (WBSCTE), Kolkata Karigari Bhawan, 2nd Floor, 110, S.N.Banerjee Road, Kolkata-700013.

N.B. The nature of the posts is temporary and the staffs engaged by the institutes / organizations automatically get terminated after completion of the course(s) of 06 months duration.

Submit duly filled in application format, supported by corroborative documents, to the Director, Directorate of Technical Education & Training, 10th Floor, Bikash Bhavan, Salt lake, Kolkata-700091 at the receiving section of this Directorate during 10:30 a.m to 4 p.m. on all working weekdays (Monday-Friday). Note that submission of duly filled up form with supportive documents does not guarantee award of Govt. grants.
Department of TE&T, 6th Floor, Bikash Bhavan shall inform the centre, if entitled to get Govt. grant by a Government Order (G.O.).
Read the G.O. carefully and contact West Bengal state Council of Technical Education, Kolkata Karigari Bhawan, 2nd Floor, 110, S.N.Banerjee Road, Kolkata-700013 for (i) obtaining automatic approval of the selected trades/courses and (ii) collection of the sanctioned grants.
